Grove City Photographer Receives Distinguished Industry Award
Danica Barreau, M.Photog.M.Artist., CPP, of Pouka Art & Photography in Grove City, Ohio was presented with the Professional Photographers of America’s Imaging Excellence Award on January 17, 2021, for her years of dedication to expanding her photographic education and creating work of the highest quality. In 2021, she was one of only 17 recipients.
This award provides recognition for those rare photographers who have earned their PPA master’s degrees in the field of imaging and have continued to submit images worthy of acceptance into the PPA General and Loan Collections – the best images of PPA’s annual International Photographic Competition. In other words, the Imaging Excellence Award honors Danica Barreau’s ability to consistently create photographic images of outstanding quality.
“To receive the Imaging Excellence Award says two things about the photographer,” explains Don Dixon, Chairman of PPA’s International Photographic Competition Committee. “First, they know how to create beautiful images. Many people wait years to get one image in PPA’s Loan Collection, but the Imaging Excellence Award requires 13 of those Loan images! Second, it shows dedication to a goal. You don’t earn this in one competition year and some wait their entire life to receive this award. This one of PPA’s hardest awards to earn and those who have should be proud of the accomplishment.”
Mrs. Barreau was also a finalist in two categories in the Grand Imaging Awards (GIA), honoring the top 112 images in the International Photographic Competition, for the third year in a row. The winners were announced on January 18, 2021, and she placed second for a restoration piece named, “Joy, Renewed” during a virtual award ceremony.
Danica Barreau is a pet photographer and digital artist working in Grove City, Ohio. She is a PPA Master Artist, Master of Photography, and a Certified Professional Photographer. She is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, on the board of Professional Photographers of Ohio, and a member of the American Society of Photographers.
