My paintings are designed to be displayed in the home, and for that reason, they are finished in custom float frames. A float frame creates a subtle space between the artwork and the frame, giving the piece depth and presence without overwhelming it.

This approach allows the artwork to stand on its own while still feeling finished and intentional on the wall.

The right frame doesn’t draw attention to itself. It quietly does its job, letting the artwork feel at home on your wall.

In most cases, your frame is selected for you based on the artwork, subject, and overall feel of the piece. This ensures the frame complements the portrait rather than competing with it.

If you have a specific color preference or a particular decor style you’d like to match, that can absolutely be taken into account.

Why Frame a Canvas?

While gallery-wrapped canvases are a popular option, framing offers several advantages:

  • A finished look
A frame visually anchors the artwork and gives it a sense of completion that works especially well in living spaces.

  • Added depth and presence
Float frames create dimension, helping the portrait stand out on the wall rather than blending into it.

  • Better long-term protection
Framing adds an extra layer of durability and helps the artwork hold up beautifully over time.

  • Easier integration into your home
Framed canvases tend to feel more intentional alongside other artwork and furnishings.

For these reasons, framed canvases are the most popular choice and the default presentation for Pouka portraits.

About the Frames

Your frame is produced by Loxley Colour, a professional fine-art lab based in Scotland. Loxley prints the canvases and frames them in-house, ensuring complete control over quality from start to finish.

At present, there are no U.S. vendors offering this combination of exceptional canvas print quality paired with precision in-house float framing. Loxley’s craftsmanship, consistency, and finish are unmatched, making them the best choice for artwork designed to live in your home for years to come.

About Loxley Colour

Founded in Scotland in 1987, Loxley Colour has built a global reputation as one of the world’s leading professional photographic and fine-art labs. Their canvas print quality is widely regarded as among the best in the industry, with exceptional color fidelity, depth, and surface finish.

What sets Loxley apart is the ability to pair that print quality seamlessly with in-house framing. By producing both the canvas and the frame under one roof, they eliminate variables that can compromise fit, finish, or longevity. This level of integration is what led me to choose Loxley for your painting.

The short video below offers a behind-the-scenes look at Loxley’s process and the care that goes into every piece.

Traditional Framing (By Request)

For clients who prefer a more traditional presentation, upgraded framing options are available by request. These typically include classic profiles such as ornate or gold-leaf frames and require additional planning and sourcing.

To allow for a wider range of traditional frame styles, these pieces are finished with a slimmer profile rather than a deep gallery-style canvas. This makes them compatible with frames designed for a smaller interior depth and allows for greater flexibility in frame selection. Because this approach expands the number of available options, traditional framing is handled on a case-by-case basis, may add time to the process, and includes an additional framing charge.

While most of my paintings are best served by the clean lines of a float frame, this option is available for those with a specific aesthetic or design goal in mind.
