QUEEN MIA
Every household has a ruler—and in this one, it’s Mia.
Found as a stray with kittens and deemed “unadoptable” because she showed her affection by biting, Mia proved everyone wrong by becoming not only a permanent fixture, but a fiercely loyal, highly effective co-pilot in her owner’s English Setter rescue work. Confident, clever, and unapologetically regal, Mia has spent her 18 years keeping every two- and four-legged creature in line.
This portrait was created to honor her rightful title: Queen of the House.
Her mom says:
Mia, aka Queen Mia in our house, because everyone, people, cats and dogs know she is in charge of the place. She is confident and proud of her bigger than life attitude…
She may have shown why she wasn’t adoptable to most homes but she also is the only cat I’ve ever kept that stepped up to be my Setter rescue partner… Mia is not afraid of strangers of any 2 or 4 legged variety. When a person or animal enters the house she’s there checking them out, not hiding like the other cats.
There will never be another Mia.
Mia is still with us so her mom was able to provide some great reference photos of the queen. I gave her some mock-up options which we narrowed down to one. Then I painted it digitally.
Creating the digital portrait.
The digital painting is then sent to a trusted vendor to print on canvas.
Acrylics are added to give depth and texture.
The finished painting, ready to ship out.
