Celebrating the English Setter: My Time at the ESAA National Specialty

As a devoted English Setter owner and artist, attending the ESAA National Specialty is always a highlight of my year. This year’s event was particularly special—not only was it just a short drive from home, but it also marked a significant milestone for my business.

Surrounded by the finest examples of the breed, I set up shop to offer something unique: custom merchandise and portraits specifically for English Setter enthusiasts. Finding breed-specific items can be a challenge, which inspired me to start my own line of English Setter goods—from totes to custom paintings.

With a setup perfected through trial and error in my garage, I was thrilled to display my products and commissioned artwork. Despite a few hiccups at the venue, the setup turned out wonderfully, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

An unexpected perk of the event was enjoying ringside seats to a premier dog shows—a real treat for a breed aficionado like myself!

After five fantastic days, I came away with new friends, great memories, and several commissions. It's always a joy to connect with fellow English Setter lovers and help them immortalize their pets through art.
